This will be short and sweet during this busy Thanksgiving week. I just wanted to share a very special project created by some very special kids. This is a “thankful tree” that the kids at our inner city outreach made. At first, they were a bit tentative about writing what they were thankful for on the paper leaves. But then they really engaged! I think it turned out beautiful! Here is what they were thankful for:
Mom
Dad
School
Friends
God
Life
Heat
Toys
Dogs
Waking up in the morning
Cookies
Family
Church
God
This beautiful tree was easy to make, and is a great project for home, Sunday school, or other children’s ministry. I just used a decorative planter filled with dirt. Into this, I stuck several bare branches cut from trees in my yard. Look for limbs with lots of branches for hanging. Then, I punched holes in leaf shapes, and tied twine through the holes to make the hangers. (I purchased printed and cut out paper leaves from a teacher supply store, but you could also make your own.) The children wrote their names and what they were thankful for on the leaves.
I hope that this blessed you like it did me. Enjoy this great season of thankfulness!
With Joy,
Kathleen
